The Office of the Special Envoy on Transnational Crime attended the second session of the open-ended intergovernmental meeting for the purpose of defining the specific procedures and rules for the functioning of the review mechanism for the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime (UNTOC) and the Protocols thereto which was held on 30 October to 01 November 2017 in Vienna, Austria.
The Philippine delegation was represented by 1. Janina Lourdes M. Bustos, Third Secretary, Permanent Mission to the United Nations, Vienna; 2. Arlene O. Balasabas, Presidential Staff Officer V, Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission; 3. Cristine Cia B. Clasara – Steylaerts, Attaché and Adviser, Permanent Mission to the United Nations, Vienna; and 4. Alyanna Joy S. Jaucian, Desk Officer, Office of the Special Envoy on Transnational Crime.
The session was opened on 30 October and held a total of five meetings. The meetings were chaired by H.E. MRS. MARIA ASSUNTA ACCILI SABBATINI (Italy), Vice-President of the Conference, on behalf of H.E. MRS. PILAR SABORIO DE ROCAFORT (Costa Rica), President of the Conference at its eighth session.
The open-ended intergovernmental meeting discussed item 2 of the agenda, entitled “Consideration of a first draft of the procedures and rules for a review mechanism based on the elements contained in resolution 8/2.”
