SEMINAR ON TERRORISM AND COUNTERING VIOLENT EXTREMISM

The Office of the Special Envoy on Transnational Crime (OSETC) attended the Seminar on Terrorism and Countering Violent Extremism last 29 November 2017, hosted by Presidential Anti- Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) at the OSETC Conference Room, 4th floor, PCTC Building, Camp Crame, Quezon City. Geprince G Diana, Alyanna Joy S Jaucian, Janet A Mangibin and Josua Mariano, Desk Officers, represented OSETC. It was also attended by personnel from PAOCC and Philippine Center on Transnational Crime.
There were three speakers, namely: 1) Mr. Noor Umug, a Filipino Consultant of International Center for Political Violence and Terrorism Research- Singapore; 2) Dr. Rommel C. Banlaoi, Chairman of the Philippine Institute for Peace; and 3) Mr. Josua G Mariano, Desk Officer of OSETC. The discussion focused on a) local terrorism; b) impact and socio-political implications of terrorism; c) Philippine experience on radicalization of foreign nationals; d) driving factors to radicalization; and e) common security challenge and preventive measures.
