FORUM ON MEASURES IN CURBING COUNTERFEITING AND PIRACY IN ONLINE TRANSACTIONS

The Office of the Special Envoy on Transnational Crime (OSETC), attended a forum regarding Measures in Curbing Counterfeiting and Piracy in Online Transactions held at IPOPHL Multi-purpose Hall, Taguig City last 01 February 2018, attended by Ms. Janet Mangibin and Ms. Alyanna Joy Jaucian, both Desk Officers on Transnational Organized Crime (DO, TOC) along with the representatives from National Committee on Intellectual Property Rights (NCIPR) member agencies, prosecutors and other law enforcement agencies.
Atty. Teodoro Pascua, Deputy Director General of IPOPHL delivered the welcome remarks. He stated that the objective of the forum is to understand the latest problem on e-commerce and to adopt policies of the United States (U.S.) on counterfeiting and piracy that may be beneficial to the country.
Primarily, the resource speaker, Professor Doris Estelle Long, Intellectual Property Expert, gave a presentation on the U.S. effective measures in curbing counterfeiting and piracy in online transactions.
The agenda focused on digital piracy, counterfeiting and online liability issues related to e-commerce and intellectual property violations, including safe harbors and take down issues connected with counterfeit goods.
