OSETC Participates In UN Programme of Action To Prevent, Combat and Eradicate the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons and All its Aspects

The Office of the Special Envoy on Transnational Crime (OSETC), headed by AMBASSADOR ANSELMO SIMEON P PINILI, Special Envoy on Transnational Crime andPSUPT ELIZABETH D JASMIN, Head, Administration Services, attended the “Training to Build Capacity of Southeast Asian States for Streamlining and Strengthening the Implementation of the UN PoA on SALW” at the Lao Plaza Hotel Vientiane, Lao PDR, on June 6-7, 2017.
The workshop was sponsored by the UN Trust Facility Supporting Cooperation on Arms Regulation (UNSCAR) and facilitated by the United Nations Regional Centre for Peace and Disarmament in Asia and the Pacific (UNRCPD), in collaboration with the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA) and Lao People’s Democratic Republic. It was participated in by the delegates from ASEANAPOL, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Vietnam and representatives from the different relevant government agencies of Lao PDR.
It was emphasized that the National Action Plan (NAP) should be flexible, sustainable, effective, efficient, comprehensive in nature, conflict sensitive, and prioritizes safety.
