The Office of the Special Envoy on Transnational Crime (OSETC), represented by Mr. Josua Garin Mariano, Desk Officer on Cybercrime and Terrorism, attended the “1st INTERPOL Projects Pacific AL QABDAH Joint Pacific Counter-Terrorism Working Group Meeting” at the Amman Marriott Hotel, Amman, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on 18 - 20 September 2017.
The said conference was sponsored by the INTERPOL General Secretariat; participated in by various country delegates from the Middle East North Africa (MENA) and Southeast Asia (SEA) regions through 13 countries namely: Australia, Bahrain, Egypt, Kuwait, Jordan, Lebanon, Malaysia, Morocco, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Tunisia, and United Arab Emirates. Delegates from Indonesia were unable to come as pertinent matters emerged at hand according to the INTERPOL General Secretariat, the organizers of said activity.
The members of the Philippine delegation are as follows: (1) PSSUPT ENRIQUE N MAGALONA, Head of the delegation - Police Attaché, Saudi Arabia; (2) MAJ DENNIS G GUILLERMO, Intelligence Officer, Armed Forces of the Philippines, OJ2; and (3) MR. JOSUA G MARIANO, Desk Officer on Cybercrime and Terrorism, Office of the Special Envoy on Transnational Crime.
It was emphasized that major themes on terrorism (Returnees and Facilitators; Travel and Mobility; Recruitment and Radicalization; and Terrorism Financing) should have further strategic and operational cooperation and collaboration among MENA and SEA regions in order to strengthen its prevention and countering mechanisms in the near latency.
